Jeep Scrambler: how to reach the lookout
Finish all six stages with fuel and hearts remaining. The safest approach is to build a steady rocking rhythm, slow down before bends and choose each route using its fuel and heart forecast. This guide covers the browser game on Rare Answer Game.
1. Learn the rocking rhythm
- Use A and B alternately for forward rocking in the classic layout. Let each side load before switching; holding one side is not a continuous accelerator.
- Brake with Space before a tight bend. Resume rocking after lining up with the road.
- Use the rear C/D controls to reverse when you need room. On touch devices, use the labelled wheel controls.
If you choose the split layout, the four controls use A, L, Z and M instead. Follow the labels shown beside the game.

2. Plan fuel and hearts before driving
You begin with 17 fuel and seven hearts. A detour normally costs more fuel; a shortcut can impose heart wear before any collision. The route cards show these base costs, not a promise that you will avoid additional damage.
- Low range reduces shortcut damage on rough terrain.
- High range saves one fuel on firm-track detours.
- A collision-free stage finish adds one fuel.
- A successful intermediate checkpoint repairs up to two hearts, capped at seven, only if fuel and hearts remain above zero.
- The single journey supply crate provides either three fuel or up to two hearts. Choose based on the next route forecast.
A preview ending at zero fuel depends on a clean-finish fuel bonus to continue. Supplies or another route can remove that dependency.
3. Work through the six stages
Stage 1: Dry wash
Start slowly on loose gravel. Use the first stretch to learn the A/B rocking rhythm before chasing coins. Low range reduces shortcut wear; compare the displayed fuel and heart costs before entering.
Stage 2: Switchback ridge
This is firm track: high range saves one fuel on the detour. Brake before tight bends instead of maintaining maximum rocking speed into the turn. Saving fuel is useful only if you keep enough hearts to finish.
Stage 3: Sandstone steps or Abandoned mine
Choose the mesa shelf or mine branch. The mesa has rock ledges where low range protects the shortcut. The mine has a firm tramway where high range saves detour fuel. Compare the branch terrain rather than assuming every stage rewards the same gear.
Stage 4: Needle pass
Narrow scree leaves less room for recovery. Reduce speed ahead of bends and straighten the Jeep before accelerating. If wedged against the edge, use reverse or rescue rather than repeatedly driving into the same obstruction.
Stage 5: Boulder garden
Scattered rocks make a direct coin chase risky. Look ahead, brake and leave clearance around rocks. Low range reduces wear on the rocky shortcut. Preserve at least one heart through the finish to qualify for a checkpoint repair.
Stage 6: Fire lookout
The final track is firm, so high range can save detour fuel. Check that fuel and hearts will remain above zero at the end. There is no final-checkpoint heart repair; prioritize arriving safely over collecting the last coin.
4. Recover without sacrificing the attempt
The first rescue in each attempt is free. Later rescues add five seconds each, without heart loss. Use rescue when stuck instead of repeatedly colliding with the road edge.
If the stage ends, retry it with the original starting resources or return to route selection. Previously collected coins stay collected, so repeating a stage does not duplicate those points. The timer stops at the result screen; the driver log stores the latest ten stage results.
5. Finish with resources to spare
A completed journey awards 30 XP and finish points equal to ten times your remaining fuel plus hearts. Completing your selected bonus contract adds 50 points: finish with at least five hearts, or take at least four successful shortcuts. Trail pickup points are additional and use the shared Rare Answer Game balance.
For example, finishing with one fuel and four hearts awards 50 finish points before a qualifying contract bonus. There is no checkpoint repair at the final lookout.
A recorded first-stage example
In a local playtest on November 6, 2026, the low-range Dry wash shortcut finished 300 metres in 19 seconds with eight coins, no impacts and no rescues. Fuel changed from 17 to 16: two fuel spent on the route, one returned for a clean finish. This is one stage result, not a guaranteed time or a full-journey record.
